On Wednesday, February 28th, Dr. Terry Frenz came to help prepare the Carrollton Concert Band for the OMEA Large Group Adjudicated event. Dr. Frenz was the Director of Bands at the University of Cincinnati from 1994-2016. He currently directs two jazz ensembles at UC. Before UC, Frenz taught at Barnesville High School, Canton McKinley High School, and 22 years at Marlington High School. Over his 60 years of teaching experience, his groups have won 7 national titles. It was an honor and a privilege to have Dr. Frenz journey to Carrollton from his home in Indiana to work with our Carrollton students.

Our boys team had 12 wrestlers qualify for districts! We also had 3 wrestlers win their weight class at Sectionals.
Overall the boys team finished 1st at Sectionals! Way to go!
Carrollton Elementary Robotics represented the district well once again. In the last regular competition of the season the team of Rett Nicholas and Brantley McNutt qualified for state by being the Teamwork Challenge Alliance runner up. They also received the Amaze Award and were runner up in the Skills competition. Although they were the only team in the finals all four Carrollton teams performed at a high level.
Three teams will compete on Friday, March 1st at the Marion County Fairgrounds for the VEX Robotics State Championship.
Congratulations Rett and Brantley and good luck to all three teams at the state tournament.

Congratulations to our Girls Basketball team, who won the Sectional Championship over Maysville! The score was 71-37. Go Warriors!

On Wednesday, February 21, Dr. Kate Ferguson, Band Director at Youngstown State University came to work the Carrollton High School Band. The Carrollton Band is preparing to perform at the Ohio Music Education Association District 8 Large Group Adjudicated event in March. The Band performs on Friday, March 8 at North Canton Hoover High School at 8:35 pm.
Kurt Stanley of Sarchione Ford in Waynesburg brought a 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning to CHS today. CHS science teacher Seth Halfhill organized the event for his Science 4 students, as they are currently studying electric vehicles. Students were able to take a ride in the fully electric vehicle, and Mr. Halfhill got a test drive as well!

Our Varsity Girls Wrestling team hosted the 2nd Annual Spearhead Invitational today at the Bell Herron Gym. The gym was packed with spectators and there were 135 girls who competed from 35 different schools.
Carrollton High School is very happy with the growth of our Girls Wrestling program and the growing popularity of the sport in the female division. Way to go, Warriors!
Carrollton Preschool earns a Five-Star Rating during their recent evaluation. Step Up to Quality is a five-star quality rating and improvement system administered by the Ohio Department of Education. Step Up to Quality was created to help families identify early learning and development programs that go beyond the minimum standards of licensing. Five-star rated programs demonstrate higher levels of quality in instruction, environment and licensing standards. Way to go Preschool Staff!
Carrollton High School is hosting a Sectional Basketball game on Wednesday 2-21-24. The Varsity Girls Basketball team will be playing New Philly in the 1st round of the tournament. The game starts at 7:00 pm. This is a Varsity only contest. (No JV game). The Ticket prices are set by the state and Carrollton Passes will not be accepted.
All tickets for Sectional and District contests are the same whether they are purchased online or at the gate. Students are $5.00 and Adult tickets are $8.00 for Boys and Girls Basketball.

Congratulations to the Carrollton boys and girls bowling teams for qualifying to the District Tournament to be held on Feb. 22 at Legacy Lanes in Coshocton.
The boys finished second in their sectional at St. Clair lanes on Tuesday and the girls finished third in their sectional at Boulevard lanes. The top six teams advance to the District tournament.
At the District tournament, the top two teams will advance to the State tournament to be held March 1 & 2 in Columbus.

Kindergarten celebrated their 100th day of school today. Students had the choice to either dress as 100 year olds or wear a shirt with 100 things on it. Check out Mrs. Shreve’s class celebrating their 100th day!

Our seventh and eighth grade Intro to Agriculture Class recently completed their Boot Jack Project. The process included drawing the plan to scale, using hand tools, and staining. They presented a signed Boot Jack to Mr. Wood. Great job!
